OCC Partner Sustainable Severn Sound Joins Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program
As part of the Regional Central Ontario Climate Advisory team for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program, the OCC, along with OCCIAR, and CAP is pleased to announce that Sustainable Severn Sound (SSS), one of our partners, is currently completing a Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) in collaboration with 7 local municipalities, including the Towns of Midland and Penetanguishene, and the Townships of Georgian Bay, Severn, Oro-Medonte, Tiny and Tay.
The LCCAP involves the development of a community-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, the setting of corporate and community GHG reduction targets, and the creation of a Local Action Plan to reduce GHG reductions in alignment with the PCP program, a joint initiative between the FCM and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
On February 22, SSS hosted a public event in partnership with the Ontario Climate Consortium and the FCM, welcoming Ian McVey, Secretariat for the OCC and Regional Climate Advisor for the FCM’s PCP program. This was an opportunity for municipalities and the community to learn more about climate change initiatives, both provincially and locally.
