Assessing and Enhancing the Resilience of Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands
SECOND INFORMATION SHARING MEETING
Hosted by Environment and Climate Change Canada, in partnership with Ontario Climate Consortium and Climate Risk Institute.
DATE: March 12, 2020
ABOUT THE EVENT
With increasingly variable and extreme rainfall events occurring now and in the future, infrastructure owners and managers are increasingly required to assess, plan for, and respond to water and climate-related impacts on their assets.
Through Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Great Lakes Protection Initiative (GLPI), the federal government is undertaking an assessment of coastal wetland vulnerability to climate change impacts and developing methods to enhance coastal wetland resilience.
The objectives of this second annual information sharing meeting were:
- To provide an update on the coastal wetland vulnerability assessment project
- To share recent climate and water level modelling results and identify key risks and impacts
- To draft adaptation strategies and actions to enhance wetland resilience
- To engage a network of wetland conservation practitioners
